30% of all food produced for humans worldwide (more than 1 billion tons) is wasted each year
In the US we lose up to 40% of food to waste. The largest segment of food waste comes from households allowing food to go bad.

The purpose of this research is to learn how people interact with their food supply, use their pantry, and general relationship to cooking. Research is focused on understanding the potential user's perspective and expectations to problems encountered in the kitchen.

We noticed that our users didn’t have a specific pantry problem that needed solving, but instead, we recognized some key themes:
People generally want to eat healthily;
Hate when ingredients go bad/wasting food;
Enjoy experimenting with new recipes;
Challenges cooking for one;
Lack of variety - You're forced to eat the same thing throughout the week, so food doesn't go bad.
These observations led us to come up with initial guidelines for our concept.
